The Basis of Our Faith In God

“The Spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the Spirit of sons that makes you cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Today, we reflect on these powerful words of St. Paul which remind us that our faith in God and our belief in His truth are never in vain. Fear cripples – it breeds confusion, indecision, and even wrong decisions. But the fear of God, which Scripture tells us is the beginning of wisdom, lifts us into new life and courageous witnessing.

Yesterday’s Gospel talked about the tax collector went home justified because he bowed before God in humility and awe. Those who find time to kneel before God never struggle to stand before men.

When we bow in God’s presence, we are lifted in the presence of men.

Alook at today’s Gospel, we find the woman who had suffered for eighteen years – bent over by an evil spirit – refused to succumb to it. Every Sabbath she went to the temple, and there mercy found her. Even on the Sabbath, mercy said No to protocol and healed her completely, revealing the divine presence among His people.

Say this with faith: “My testimony will bring the world to the altar of God!”
Indeed, her testimony became a song of praise to many.

So trust in the Lord and declare: “Jesus, I trust in You.”
His time is always the best, and He never fails.

May your testimony bring the world to God’s altar.
May your time of waiting not be in vain.
May your faith never be lost and your hope never be shattered.
May the Lord never let you be broken beyond repair before He answers you.

Amen. 🙏🏽
