Faith without good work is dead – James 2:17
The highest expression of our Christian faith is good works inspired by the love of God and neighbour. It is important to understand that one cannot love God and neighbour, without the consequent translations of good works evident in their immediate environment, and in privileged cases, even beyond. In our ever increasingly challenged world, the call for humanitarian works of kindness is almost imperative. With the dire straits of the global economic inflation, the children, the elderly and the physically challenged in the developing world, are in constant need of material assistance. A handful of them, regrettably, are in terrible living conditions. Faith-Chat Platform has taken the leap of faith in granting succor to as much people we can get to as possible for the past few years. This is largely sustained by the kind gestures of well-meaning individuals and members of Faith-Chat Platform; charitable people from around the world and my parishioners in the Scottish Highlands. On a personal note, the philanthropic activities of Faith-Chat Platform in many places have sadly eluded me. I mean to tell you that while we are very much devoted to this, some if not most of the outreach programs had gone on without my physical presence. Being able to be part of this work physically at this time meant so much to me. You can obviously understand my fascination. At this point, I crave your indulgence to take you with me through this journey I made to Africa and all it meant to me and the people I met. While I take you through all the physical and emotional details of my trip, I urge that we do not lose sight of the most important value to gain from this, which is to love God and neighbour through good works of charity.
