“I belong to Jesus!”
This is a powerful statement of faith and identity.
It’s a declaration that many, from celebrities to footballers, wear boldly on their shirts or headbands, but it must first be written on the heart.
To belong means to be part of, to be united with, or to find one’s place within something or someone. True belonging starts with knowledge, knowing what or whom you belong to, and belief in that relationship.
To belong to Jesus, therefore, means to know Him personally, to believe in His Incarnation and Resurrection, and to accept the mystery of His hypostatic union – that He is both fully God and fully man. It’s to recognise that our lives have been purchased at a price (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:20) and that we are no longer our own. It is to believe in His Word, embrace His ways, and live by His example.
But faith that is not expressed is incomplete.
To belong to Jesus is to let your life show it, through love, forgiveness, humility, and perseverance.
In times of joy:
We give Him glory;
In moments of sorrow, disappointment, or waiting, we carry our cross with patience and trust, just as He did.
To belong to Jesus means that even when the world rejects you, you stand firm in peace, because your life is rooted in the One who never fails. You are His, and He is yours.
“Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” – Romans 14:8
Please continue 2 Kings 21 & pray with Psalm 40. May the Lord bless his words in our hearts.
