Parable of the Talents
Today we reflected on the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:24β30). A key lesson we saw is this: no matter how small or incapable we may think we are, God has given each of us a gift.
Think of Gideon. He saw himself as the least in his family, and his clan as the weakest in Israel, yet God chose him to lead His people. In the same way, the master gave talents to his servants according to their abilities. Psalm 139:1 says: βLord, you have searched me and you know meβ. God knows exactly what we can handle.
The servant with five talents gained five more, and the one with two gained two more because they acted faithfully with what was given. But the servant with one talent chose to hide it. He thought he was being smart, but his decision was foolish. Imagine if he used the same energy he used to bury it to invest it, he would have had a harvest.
This attitude shows up in us, too.
Oftentimes, we are trusted with responsibilities that are not even our own. It could be in a job, a business, or a role within the community. The question is: are we faithful in helping it grow, or are we careless and greedy, allowing it to fail? Some people have lost their life investments because others were unfaithful.
The truth is this: faithfulness leads to fruitfulness. If you want to be a manager, be faithful to your manager. If you want to be a CEO, be faithful where you are today. Promotion comes through faithfulness.
So, let us pray for the grace to be faithful to our calling. Remember: the little seed of today becomes the great fruit of tomorrow. Plant it, water it, weed it, and care for it, and you will surely excel.
Please read and pray with Psalm 57 and Proverbs 30. Write down the chapter(s) that spoke to you personally. Pray about it and share it. May the Lord bless his words in our hearts.
Mary has helped us, Mary can help us, Mary wants to help us, Mary will help us.
Amen
